Houses

Rooted in Tradition.
Shaped by Unity.

At Innovate Academy, the House system is a cornerstone of school culture. Rooted in classical tradition and Christian formation, our four Houses create a vibrant “school within a school” where scholars across all grade levels are known, supported, and inspired to grow within their selected House.

Our Houses

A shield-shaped emblem with a black border, divided into three sections. The top left has a black background with a gray letter 'H' in an Old English font. The top right has a harp illustration. The bottom features a lion's head profile facing right. Below the shield is a gray banner with the word 'HILDEGARD' in white capital letters.

House of Hildegard

Wonder. Wisdom. Creativity.

Inspired by Hildegard of Bingen, the visionary abbess, artist, and composer, this House celebrates the harmony of faith and imagination. Students in Hildegard are thinkers and creators, cultivating beauty, curiosity, and courage to see the world as charged with divine meaning. They remind our community that wonder is the beginning of wisdom.

  • Prudence (wisdom, discernment, clarity)

  • “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God…” — James 1:5

  • “Humanity, take a good look at yourself. Inside, you have heaven and earth.”

House of Basil

Truth. Order. Strength.

Named for Basil the Great, defender of orthodoxy and builder of community, this House embodies intellectual clarity and moral conviction. Members of Basil pursue truth with discipline, seek order in thought and life, and lead with quiet strength. They are the scholars, strategists, and stabilizers—the ones who bring wisdom into action.

  • Justice (equity, righteousness, compassion)

  • “Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly…” — Micah 6:8

  • If we all took only what was necessary…no one would be poor or in need.”

House of Benedict

Stability. Discipline. Devotion.

Following the spirit of Benedict of Nursia, father of Western monasticism, this House values faithful routine, deep prayer, and purposeful work. Students in Benedict lead through service and example, anchoring our school culture in humility and perseverance. Their motto: Ora et Labora—"Pray and Work."

  • Temperance (balance, self-control, disciplined joy)

  • 1 Corinthians 9:25 — Every athlete exercises self-control in all things…”

  • “Prefer nothing whatever to Christ.”

House of Monica

Faith. Hope. Perserverance.

Named for Saint Monica, the steadfast mother whose prayers shaped history, this House honors endurance and faithfulness through trial. Members of Monica embody compassion, loyalty, and resilience—the quiet strength that never gives up. They remind us that transformation often begins in unseen places and steadfast hearts.

  • Fortitude (steadfast courage)

  • “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” — Romans 12:12

  • “Only one thing made me want to live a little longer—to see you a Christian before I die.”

Our House System
and Culture

At the start of the school year, Innovate Academy’s House system will take on a renewed and more intentional structure designed to deepen community, leadership, and mentorship across grade levels. Within each House, multi-age mentorship will help scholars to build meaningful friendships and learn from one another.

Beginning this fall, Upper School scholars will step into formal leadership roles—including Captain, Chaplain, Creative Leader, and Commissioner—guiding their Houses in service, celebration, and school-wide activities. Younger scholars will be invited to serve as leaders in training. Together, these roles will intentionally nurture confidence, responsibility, and the habits of servant leadership.

Throughout the year, Houses will engage in service projects, games, feasts, traditions, and joyful competitions that will cultivate virtue and school spirit. A new House points system will be introduced to celebrate kindness, teamwork, integrity, effort, and participation—reinforcing the daily habits we seek to form in every scholar.

Our Signature Event

Initiation Day

This fall, Innovate Academy will welcome both new and returning scholars with a meaningful House Kickoff ceremony that will mark their entry into the community for the coming year. Drawing on the imagery of Through the Wardrobe, scholars will be ceremonially welcomed, blessed, and inducted into their Houses—affirming their identity as sons and daughters of the King and as Culture Makers committed to the True, the Good, and the Beautiful.

Current scholars are encouraged to wear school swag during this event that aligns with their assigned House colors:

  • Gray for Hildegard

  • Green for Benedict

  • Purple for Basil

  • Blue for Monica
