2nd-4th Grade Bible Study for Scholars:  PSALMS

This school year, a group of young scholars are invited to explore the Psalms to uncover truths and treasures through an in-depth Bible study.  The book of Psalms has served as a hymnbook and prayerbook of God's people from ancient times and on into the present. The Psalms are powerful prayers, guiding us into honest communication with God.  They validate our doubts, passions, fears, and longings and show us how to draw near to God in our struggles.  Partnering with Community Bible Study, a global parachurch organization, scholars will be given age-appropriate study books that will guide them in weekly individual study at home and will be reinforced and discussed together in a small, fun, and engaging Bible study group of peers.  The Community Bible Study materials organize the Psalms thematically over the course of 30 lessons (Sept-May), making it easier for scholars to grasp main ideas and apply them to their own conversations with God.

Reading Olympics

Reading Olympics is a program designed to foster a love of reading in scholars by encouraging them to read more and explore different genres and writing styles through a team-based competition. Scholars will participate in team meetings during lunch time at school throughout the school year. In the Spring, the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) will host a competition where students can showcase all that they have learned. Parents are responsible for transportation and attending this competition in the Spring. Scholars are given a book list and the goal is to read as many books as they can from that list. The competition is run in a “game show” style with questions regarding the books from the list.

Please reach out to team leaders with any questions.
